Spammers have moved away from using botnets – networks of infected PCs – to abusing email-sending services. 

These service providers have thousands of well-maintained, reputable IP addresses that ensure reliable email delivery for their customers. Legitimate marketers use them to send email campaigns to customers who have “opted in” to receive such communications.
