Fist pump baby
We’re looking for a very special person: Someone who can help our prospective and current customers do a fist pump every time they think of MailChannels. Someone who can take care of them like a mother cares for her newborn baby.

To lubricate the job market, we’re offering an iPad 3 (16GB, with LTE support that will work on AT&T, Bell Canada, Telus, or Rogers, and with AppleCare!) to the lucky person who refers a successful candidate to us. Details below:

Sales Engineer

MailChannels develops outbound email filtering software aimed at the largest ISPs and cloud hosts in the world. We grew our revenues 63% last year and are profitable and on track to triple our sales in 2012. Backed by tier-1 angel investors from Vancouver and Seattle, and with a growing list of tier-1 customers, we’re looking for someone who can both cut code in an agile environment and interface with global customers and prospects to move projects forward and provide fanatical support.

Job Description

The successful Sales Engineer must be able to articulate technology and product positioning to both business and technical users, develop implementation plans, assist with deployment and work with customers to resolve issues throughout all phases of the deployment process.

Sales Engineers are the primary technical resource for the field sales force. They are responsible for actively driving and managing the technology evaluation stage of the sales process, working in conjunction with the sales team as the key technical advisor and product advocate for our products. The Sales Engineer must be able to articulate technology and product positioning to both business and technical users, and be able to identify all technical issues of assigned accounts to assure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the deployment process. Another important requirement is to establish and maintain strong personal relationships with buyers throughout the sales cycle.

Responsibilities

  • Development and delivery of product demonstrations
  • Representing the product to customers and at field events such as conferences, seminars, etc.
  • Responding to functional and technical requirements (e.g. RFIs and RFPs)
  • Conveying customer requirements to Product Management teams
  • Providing first-tier support for large service provider customers
  • Triaging customer trouble tickets to obtain more information where necessary, and assisting in the development of a set of steps to reproduce the problem

Qualifications

The ideal candidate is self-motivated, with a proven track record in software sales engineering and a deep knowledge of email, network and security technologies. You are comfortable in the dynamic atmosphere of a technical organization with a rapidly expanding customer base. You must possess strong presentation skills and be able to communicate professionally in written responses to emails, RFPs, and when submitting reports. You must be organized and analytical, able to eliminate sales obstacles through creative and adaptive approaches, and must be prepared for some travel. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and experienced Sales Engineer.

Nice-to-haves:

  • 3-5+ years relevant experience in vendor sales or support
  • Experience and familiarity with email security
  • B.S. in Computer Science or a related field
